The concept of an foam beds and air beds is very simple: to help us sleep more comfortably and therefore more soundly. When we lie down to sleep, we need a sleep surface that permits our muscles and joints to relax. Both air beds and foam beds are ideally suited for this purpose.
Both air beds and memory foam beds represent design improvements over the conventional spring mattresses to which we have all become accustomed. A spring mattress uses coils that push up against the body to provide support, where as an air bed simply uses air. While spring mattresses were a significant improvement over the hard cotton and horsehair mattresses that preceded them, they aren’t without problems themselves. They have been found to create pressure points in our shoulders, hips, and knees that can lead to a lack of proper alignment of the spine and circulation problems. These problems cause an average usere to toss and turn an average of 50 to 70 times per night! No wonder so many of us do not sleep well. Enter the air bed -- next significant improvement in bedding!
Air beds consist of two air chamber mattresses (one for each side of the air bed), an outer mattress (into which each air bed chamber mattress is placed), an attached air pump, and two remote controls. Operation is easy: simply lie down on your side of the air bed, press the ‘inflate’ or ‘deflate’ buttons to increase/decrease the pressure to your desired setting, and like a breath or fresh air, the air bed literally allows you to sleep on air.
The Air Bed "mattress only" provides an excellent
solution when a replacement mattress is needed. If you are interested in replacing an existing mattress,
please
consider our "Air over Coil"
Air Dream replacement mattress
for sofa beds (hide-a-beds, fold-out-couches). The
Air Dream mattress
contains
an
air bed
component, allowing it to be twice as thick as a normal sofa bed
mattress while in use. When not in use, it deflates to normal
thickness for stowage.
